Commissioner of Police call for submission of illegal arms.

The Commissioner of Police Delta State, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa stated in a speech that armed Fulani herdsmen will be treated like robbers and Kidnappers.

This statement was made during a conversation with newsmen in Asaba, Delta State.

He also said that measures has been taken to recover illegal arms in the possession of herdsmen.

“We have set up a task force headed by Assistant commissioner of Police, Peter Wagbara.

” We have real herdsmen who are law abiding but any smen seen carry arms should be taken as criminal. He will be treated as a robber or kidnapper.”, He said.

Meanwhile, the commissioner also said that ultimatum of 21 days has been given to the people with illegal arms to surrender their arms through the state command which start from March 1.

The people that are expected to surrender their arms are members of vigilance groups , town unions, hunters, neighbourhood watch, herdsmen and night guard.

It was also said that after the 21 days grace period, anyone in possession of illegal arms would be arrested, investigated and prosecuted.
